About
Esra Güler is an artist and writer from Istanbul, Turkey. She lives in Seattle, WA.
Esra's paintings focus on bodies often engaged in theater, dance and improv who explore the tension between control and collapse.
With a background in theater and writing, her canvases feature imagined and improvised characters quickly drawn and painted with charcoal and extremely wet acrylics, often set in an empty stage. Through repetition and obsessive choreographies, her figures reorganize themselves and create games while exposing their breaking points.
